Toyota Kirloskar Motor has introduced 5th generation Hiace in India at a starting price of Rs. 55 lakh (ex-showroom). This model is an outgoing version which was on sale overseas since 2004. In 2019, the newest Hiace was introduced in a few international markets.
At present, the Toyota Hiace will be sold in India as a limited import. A batch of around 50 units has already reached our country. As of now, it’s made available in white and silver and a single configuration.
Toyota Hiace is powered by 2.8-litre, four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine, producing 151hp and 300Nm of torque. Hiace has got a similar engine like Fortuner and old Innova. However, Fortuner produces 204hp and 420Nm of torque, whereas 500Nm with the automatic gearbox. For now, Hiace will be sold in India with a 6-speed automatic gearbox.
To speak about interiors, the MPV comes with a 14-seat configuration (driver, co-driver, and 12 passengers). Besides, you can fold the last row of seats for additional boot capacity.
Apart from this, the Hiace is simple and practical in its designing approach. It doesn’t have any fresh styling or high-end material. Instead, it provides a feel of ruggedness with a lot of practicality. It comes with massive storage spaces around the cabin, which is well-optimised for passengers.
Toyota Hiace receives some features like power steering, ABS with EBD, AC vents for each row, semi-reclining seats, 2-DIN audio system with USB, CD, and AUX support, space-efficient dash-mounted gear selector, dual front airbags, rear defogger, power windows, and power-sliding rear doors.
The features of the Toyota Hiace is not extensive as this is the 5th generation MPV, and the 6th generation Hiace is already on sale in international markets.
