Czech automaker Skoda has announced that the upcoming Kushaq SUV will make its debut on March 18, 2021. The Skoda Kushaq is a made-for-India mid-size SUV, which is based on the Vision IN concept. The concept model was revealed at the Auto Expo 2020. Skoda is expected to launch the Kushaq in India later this year.
The Skoda Kushaq is based on the MQB A0 IN platform specifically developed for India. Expect the SUV to feature the signature Skoda grille, projector headlamps, body cladding, skid plates and much more.
The interior of the Skoda Kushaq is expected to feature premium materials such as brushed aluminium, chrome and plastic trims. Similar to the concept model, the Kushaq is expected to get a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system and other features such as automatic climate control, ambient lighting, etc. The SUV will be offered with a 5-seater configuration.
Powering the Skoda Kushaq is the 1-litre and 1.5-litre petrol engines. Both are TSI (Turbocharged) engines and will come mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard. The 1-litre petrol unit will also get a 6-speed torque-convertor automatic gearbox, and the 1.5-litre engine will also get a 7-speed DSG automatic transmission.
Skoda Kushaq is a mid-size SUV and will take on the likes of Hyundai Creta, MG Hector, Tata Harrier, Kia Seltos, Nissan Kicks and the upcoming Volkswagen Taigun.
