Japanese two-wheeler maker Yamaha has released a teaser video of the upcoming R-series motorcycle. The video does not divulge any details of the new product. However, it could be the new YZF-R7. From the teaser video, it looks like the motorcycle will be racetrack as well as road-friendly.
The reason behind the YZF-R7 speculations is that Yamaha has recently filed the name YZF-R7 with California’s Air Resources Board (CARB). The filing also reveals that the motorcycle may be available in two colour schemes.
There are no details available about the technical aspects of the new motorcycle. If the media reports are to be believed, the YZF-R7 could be based on the MT-07 platform. If that’s the case, the new motorcycle may draw power from the 689cc parallel-twin engine. The exhaust note on the teaser video is similar to the MT-07, which further fuels the speculations.
The teaser video does not mention the reveal date. So, expect Yamaha to drop more teasers of the new product. As far as India is concerned, the new R-series motorcycle is highly unlikely to come to our shores anytime soon.
