Skoda has started the production of the new-gen Octavia in India. The new 2021 Skoda Octavia was rolled off the production facility in Aurangabad. The new avatar of the sedan will hit the Indian roads later this month. Deliveries will begin at the end of May.
On the design front, the new Octavia does not get the quad-headlight arrangement seen on the outgoing model. Instead, the updated sedan features a conventional headlight design, which is similar to the Superb sedan. The front end of the Octavia is dominated by the signature Skoda grille with chrome treatment.
The interior of the new Octavia features a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 10.25-inch Virtual Cockpit digital instrument cluster. Other features of the sedan include three-zone climate control, an electric sunroof, connected car technology, wireless smartphone charging and much more.
The new-gen Octavia will draw power from a 2-litre TSI turbo-petrol engine producing 187.4bhp. The engine is BS6-compliant and is mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Skoda will not offer a diesel engine as part of the company’s new strategy. When launched in India, the new Octavia will lock horns with the Hyundai Elantra.
