Land Rover has introduced a diesel engine option for the Defender SUV in India. The prices for the Land Rover Defender diesel starts at Rs 94.36 lakh and goes all the way up to Rs 1.08 crore. All prices are ex-showroom (India).

The diesel engine-powered Defender is available in SE, HSE, X-Dynamic HSE and X trim levels. The diesel engine can be had with both 90 and 110 variants.
The diesel variant of the Defender draws power from a 3-litre six-cylinder, turbocharged oil-burner churning out 296bhp and 650Nm of torque. Transmission options include an 8-speed automatic gearbox transmitting power to all the wheels via an AWD system.
Apart from the addition of a diesel engine, the rest of the SUV remains the same. The Defender comes with features such as Land Rover’s All-Terrain Response System, air suspension cruise control, hill-hold assist and much more.
As per the performance figures claimed by Land Rover, the Defender 90 diesel can sprint from 0-100km/h in 6.7 seconds. The Defender 110 variant can hit the triple-digit mark in 7 seconds. Top-speed is limited to 191km/h.
