Kia is all set to unveil its electric vehicle globally in the first quarter of 2021. This new model, codenamed as ‘CV,’ will be the first of seven EVs from the company slated to launch by 2027.
New Kia EV is built on Hyundai Group’s E-GMP platform and receives a fresh design language. The automaker was recently seen revealing its new logo, giving a face-lift to its existing approach. Kia will use this new logo across all its products by the beginning of 2022.
The interior space of Kia CV will be the major highlights of this new car. It offers a lot more flexibility and space, thereby granting a greater experience to customers. Although more details are unknown, the company is said to include the ‘Tiger Nose’ grille in the new EV.
Although Kia has the Soul EV and e-Niro in its portfolio, the upcoming car will be its first battery-electric vehicle based on the Hyundai Group’s E-GMP platform. With the capability of getting charged under 20 minutes with a high-speed 800V charger, the new Kia CV packs in a range of over 500km.
The first dedicated CV model is of a high-performance version, and you can expect Kia to release more such variants soon. Kia has not officially said about bringing this new EV to the Indian market. However, the company has previously shared about its EV technology by setting up a charging station in Andhra Pradesh and donating three electrified Niro to the state government.
Besides, Kia’s sister brand Hyundai has already made Kona Electric available in our market for Rs. 23.76-23.95 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) and is expected to build a mass-market EV in India in the next few years.
