Finally, the Jaguar I-Pace Electric SUV will be launched in India on March 9, 2021. The launch of this much-awaited car will be done virtually, keeping it open to media and fans. This digital event will offer a look into a future-facing urban metropolis designed from the viewpoint of a sustainable ecosystem, leverages modern technologies, and aids competent modes of mobility like e-vehicles.
Jaguar I-Pace is the first car to embrace three popular awards – the World Car Design of the Year, the World Green Car of the Year, the World Car of the Year for 2019. Also, it’s the brand’s first electric offering in the country.
Jaguar Land Rover India will offer I-Pace in three trim levels as S, SE, and HSE. All will be receiving a single powertrain option – EV400. Being the brand’s first launch of the year, I-Pace comes with two synchronous permanent magnet electric motors at the front and rear axle, producing a combined 394bhp and 696Nm of peak torque.
The upcoming EV is powered by a 90 kWh lithium-ion battery, which consumes 45 minutes to charge from 0-80 percent using a 100 kW rapid charger, whereas a 7 kW AC wall box charger takes 10 hours for a complete charge. Besides, this model’s performance can sprint from 0-100 kmph in 4.8 seconds and promises to hit over 480 km.
To speak about looks, the I-Pace is captivating because of its sloping bonnet, sloping roofline, huge grille upfront, and sharp LED headlamps. Inside, it has a well-appointed cabin comprising electric adjustable Luxtec sport seats, Interactive Driver Display, Head-Up Display (HUD), Driver Condition Monitor, Adaptive Cruise Control, 380 watt Merdian Sound System, 3D Surround Camera, animated Directional Indicators, and more.
The price of I-Pace is expected to start from around Rs. 1 crore, and the model will be competing against the Mercedes-Benz EQC.
