Third generation Hyundai i20 has won the 2021 Indian Car Of The Year (ICOTY) award. ICOTY is one of the most prestigious car awards in the country, and the i20 has bagged the crown in 2021. The Hyundai i20 emerged as the winner out of the nine contenders for the award.
The Hyundai i20 scored 104 points and emerged as a clear winner by beating Kia Sonet and Mahindra Thar. The Sonet scored 91 points and ended up as runner-up, and the Mahindra Thar scored 78 points to settle for third.
Talking about the voting process, each jury member carries 25 points, and the points are dispersed among the top five shortlisted models. Each jury will announce one winner in each category, and the results are collaborated to announce one winner.
Coming to the other award categories, Tata Nexon won the ICOTY award in the Green Car category. Tata Nexon EV went on to bag the crown by beating the likes of Hyundai Kona Electric and MG ZS EV.
Land Rover Defender emerged as the winner of the Premium Car category by beating Mercedes -Benz GLE and BMW 2 Series.
