Italian carmaker Fiat has revealed a new mid-size SUV for the South American markets. Interestingly, Fiat has not finalised the moniker for the new SUV. Instead, it has asked its customers to help name the new model.
Fiat has shortlisted three names for the SUV: Tuo, Domo and Pulse. The company has also created a website for the customers to vote for their favourite name. For now, the company is calling it SUV Fiat.
On the design front, the SUV looks rugged thanks to the body cladding, faux skid plates and roof rails. The dual-tone paint scheme, sleek LED DRLs, sporty alloy wheels, LED headlights and LED tail light cluster gives the SUV a premium look. Fiat is yet to reveal the interior of the SUV. However, the SUV will get Fiat Connect Me connected car tech.
SUV Fiat is based on the new MLA platform, which offers better performance and comfort. The SUV is expected to draw power from a 1-litre turbo-petrol engine producing 123bhp and 200Nm of torque. The engine will be mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission.
Fiat might also offer a lower-spec variant with a 1.3-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine churning out 109bhp and 139Nm of torque. The engine can be had with a CVT gearbox. These specs are not yet confirmed by the company. The new SUV is unlikely to make it to the Indian shores.
