Volkswagen has teased the facelift of the sixth-gen Volkswagen Polo ahead of its global debut on April 22, 2021. In the teaser image, we could only see the front cross-section with a new headlamp and grille.
The dual-projector headlamp comes with the all-new LED daytime running light signatures. It is fused into an LED light bar running across the grille, going up to the VW symbol. South-American spec Volkswagen Taos SUV also carried similar looks.
We can expect the 2021 Polo to receive revised bumpers, tail lamps, new alloy wheels, a larger infotainment system, and more tech. According to Autocar UK, the Volkswagen Polo might get the latest mild-hybrid TSI turbo-petrol engine along with its prevailing engine line-up.
In India, we get to see only the fifth-gen Volkswagen Polo, as of now. This fifth-gen Polo has undergone several cosmetic and feature updates to compete against the rivals.
Volkswagen, however, has told Autocar India that the new hatch is likely to arrive in India in a few years, as the carmaker is currently focusing on SUVW strategy before bringing any other products from the global portfolio to our market.
The current Polo in the premium hatchback segment competes against the likes of the Hyundai i20, Maruti Baleno, Honda Jazz, and Toyota Glanza. We can expect the new VW Polo to enter the same space.
