Volkswagen has given a mid-life update for the sixth-generation Polo hatchback. The new 2021 Volkswagen Polo facelift has made its global debut. The updated Polo features refreshed styling, new features and a revamped interior.
On the design front, the 2021 Polo features a LED DRL running across the new sleek front grille. The hatchback also gets LED headlights, a newly designed front bumper, dual crease below the window line and split LED tail light clusters.
In the global markets, the new Polo is available in three trims: Life, Style and R-Line. The hatchback can be had with 15 -16-inch alloy wheels, depending on the trim level. The roof-mounted spoiler, centre-positioned Polo badging, and faux exhaust tips give a sporty look to the car.
Volkswagen has overhauled the interior of the Polo. The cabin now features a 9.2-inch infotainment system with wireless smartphone connectivity. Other features include a newly designed steering wheel, an 8-inch display for the digital instrument console, USB Type-C ports for rear passengers and much more.
The Polo also gets some advanced driver-assist functions for the first time. The IQ.Drive Travel Assist brings features such as adaptive cruise control and lane assist. The hatchback also gets a centre airbag, which is located on the side of the driver’s seat.
In the international markets, the Polo draws power from a 1-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine and a 1-litre turbo-petrol engine. Transmission options include a five-speed manual, a six-speed manual or a seven-speed DSG gearbox, depending on the engine and variant.
Volkswagen is unlikely to introduce the facelifted Polo in India anytime soon. Currently, the company is on a different strategy for India, with a slew of new SUVs lined up. So, we might have to wait for few years for the new-gen Polo.
