2021 Production-Spec Volkswagen Taigun Unveiled: Launch To Happen Soon

2021 Production-Spec Volkswagen Taigun Unveiled

After announcing the SUV onslaught for the Indian roads last year, Volkswagen has now unveiled its production-spec Taigun, made specifically for our market. This compact SUV is likely to be launched in the coming months.

Underpinned by the MQB A0 IN platform, the Taigun gets an upper half body similar to its older siblings. The single slat chrome grille edged with square-shaped LED headlamps and horizontal LED DRLs make the car more sophisticated. Besides, the dual-tone front bumper comes with a moustache-type chrome grille, fog lamps, and a silver faux plate at the bottom.

To speak of sides, the all-new Volkswagen Taigun gets two character lines across the body and comes packed with 17-inch two-tone alloy wheels surrounded by plastic cladding. Also, you can see silver roof rails and contrast black roof towards a panoramic sunroof on the top-spec model.

In the rear end, the German carmaker retains the design displayed at the 2020 Expo.  It gets a VW emblem in the centre, LED tail lamps with a thin red stripe running across the boot line, a chrome insert on the bumper, the roof-mounted spoiler, and a silver bash plate.

The Taigun gets its power from a 1-litre TSI and a 1.5-litre TSI petrol engine. The 1-litre engine produces 115bhp and 175Nm of peak torque, and it is mated to a six-speed torque converter automatic unit as well as a six-speed manual unit. The 1.5-litre engine generates 150bhp and 250Nm torque, paired with a seven-speed DSG automatic unit and a six-speed manual.

The interiors of the Volkswagen Taigun are built to compete against the segment contenders. The car is equipped with ventilated front seats, a rear-view camera, digital driver’s display, Type-C charging ports, an electric sunroof, a multi-function steering wheel, a 10-inch infotainment system supporting Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
