Hyundai revealed an all-new Bayon, the entry-level SUV. Currently, the car will be sold as a replacement for the i20 Active in international markets. With the name being inspired by France’s Basque Country’s capital, the latest SUV primarily targets European customers.
Although Bayon shares a lot of interior from the i20, it gets unique exterior features as well as higher ground clearance than the former. 2021 Hyundai Bayon gets two engine options – a 1.2-litre petrol good and 1-litre turbo-petrol engine. Countries like the UK will only get the 1-litre turbo-petrol and not the 1.2-litre engine. Based on the engine, the car includes a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed iMT option.
Bayon gets a fresh design similar to the new Kona, such as arrow-shaped headlamps and thin LED DRLs. The arrow-shaped theme continues at the rear, while a silver bash plate and triangular-shaped LED headlamps give it a stylish look at the front. With strong shoulder lines at the side and the tapering roofline, you see a crossover-like design.
Hyundai Bayon SUV sits on 16-inch or 17-inch alloy wheels and remains a front-wheel-drive vehicle, similar to the i20. On the inside, the new SUV shares the very familiar-looking features as of i20. It includes the switchgear, 10.25-inch display, all-black dashboard, and steering wheel.
Hyundai has not revealed anything about the new Bayon hitting our street. But, the company is expected to come up with a new micro-SUV that is said to be placed below the Venue in the Indian market and rival the upcoming Tata HBX (Timero).
