All-new Hyundai Santa Cruz pickup truck has been teased six years after being showcased its concept. The teaser image is revealed just before the global launch on April 15, 2021.
The production-spec Santa Cruz is said to be inspired by the fourth-gen Tucson SUV. The grille, headlight design, flared fenders and prominent character lines are similar to the new Tucson. With a five-door (crew-cab) layout, the new model differs quite drastically from the concept car, as per the teaser image.
To look at the rear end, the Hyundai Santa Cruz gets an adequate-sized pickup bed and the tailgate embossed with the name Santa Cruz in bold. Besides, the LED tail-light in the truck seems to be quite different than the Tucson. Both the LED signatures and the missing light strip to connect the two sides adds to their differences.
The mechanical details of the Hyundai Santa Cruz pickup truck are not yet known. However, the Korean carmaker claims to include a powerful powertrain with the new model. Also, we can expect the truck to come with monocoque chassis and an all-wheel-drive layout.
The launch details of Hyundai Santa Cruz in the Indian market are not announced by the company. At present, the truck will be sold in North America and rivals against Honda Ridgeline and the Ford Maverick. Considering all this aspect, it looks like Santa Cruz is unlikely to hit our shores.
But, at the same time, Hyundai has plans to introduce the seven-seat Alcazar SUV and the sportier i20 N Line in India in 2021.
